Songs of the Matriarch

There
Once was a matriarch
Who had a
Dream to nurture the
Darling buds of spring

Her
Melodious songs
Soothe
The heart and soul of
The lost boy on edge

She
Rekindles the forbidden
Passion
With precious gifts
From the heart

The neophyte
Gets a big dose of
Reality
Searching for the crumbs
From the master’s table

Behold
The lovely matriarch of Oz
Feeding
The fallen stars under the
Cloudless blue sky

She
Won the hearts
Of many
With soulful songs
Of hope

The sun shines
On the golden buds…
Elegant
Rose petals for the
Matriarch of hearts

Many of us know what it feels like to have to settle for the crumbs from the head of the house. The lessons learned, however, seem have been lifelong. At least there was the exposure to the kindness and caring of a mother. She sounds like such a sweet person.

Hi Technobabe

Thank you for your comments. How are you today?

Your reflection on the "Songs of the Matriarch" captures the essence of the poem. And the bit about the "exposure to the kindness and caring of a mother" really drives home the point.

Ever so tender and gentle, the matriarch is always there to help. :))))

Cheers
