Very little is a certainty. He shows much wisdom to plunge forward with fervor; the key words being survival and future. Hooray for the winner.
Winning can mean so many things. It is only important what we feel inside and how we perceive our lives and more importantly what we learn from our losses. Your writing is positive and caring.
Thank you for your appreciative comment, Technobabe. It does seem to be the case that the future belongs to those who can deal with uncertainty and learn from their experience.
Handling life in a fluid sense, seems to be the best way. Being able to adjust to every change, and everything life throws at us. :)

Well said, Mark! We must learn to live with "everything life throws at us" in the new environment, as we try to make sense of the world around us.
